Contemporary Village Homes

New Contemporary Village Homes Offer Families Room to Breathe

Many families find that they need more space as their children grow older, yet a move further out into the countryside is often seen as big step. Panic can set in at the thought of not being able to buy a latté within ten minutes of the house, or that it will be half an hour’s car ride to get a pint of milk. Making new friends and building a network again are also concerns often cited.

The new homes by award-winning eco house builder Environ Communities offer families the best of both worlds at their new development, Keepers Court, at Kings Hill near West Malling. Designed in the style of an old Wealden Village with a mix of house styles, the development has direct access to a 150 acre Country Park on its doorstep and yet the homes are within ten minutes’ walking distance to a number of shops such as Waitrose and Asda, banks, doctors, post office and vet. There are outstanding primary schools nearby, a David Lloyd Centre and a championship golf course, which are all easily accessed via a network of safe landscaped walkways and cycle lanes.

The four and five bedroom properties, designed to an exceptional specification, are contemporary inside and out whilst still reflecting the local Kentish architecture. Designed in four different styles, the homes are light and spacious with glass used throughout; features such as double height entrance halls and cathedral ceilings in the master bedrooms provide a ‘wow’ factor.

The four bedroom homes start from £562,500 and five bedroom homes start from £647,000.

The luxury homes are designed to offer an unusual amount of flexibility with the clever use of pocket doors which allows the living areas to be opened up or divided as the owner chooses, and as family requirements change. Upstairs, there is a large bonus room in the loft, which can be easily accessed by an electric wooden staircase that drops down at the touch of a switch. Velux windows, lighting and electrical sockets are fitted and this space could have many uses.

The gardens and landscaping throughout the scheme are an eye-catching feature of Keepers Court. Award- winning landscape designer Julie Johnson has created easy maintenance ‘fitted’ rear gardens that flow from the house, so they become an extra room in the warmer months. They are attractively landscaped, using plants suitable for the region and climate and include a raised vegetable bed for those owners wanting to grow their own produce.

Tony Dowse, Chairman of Environ says:  “Kings Hill is a thriving community and the wide range of properties ensures a diverse mix of residents from singles to young professionals to families and retirees. It is a safe environment in which to bring up a family with green pedestrian routes and traffic slowing roads. It’s nice to see so many children out on their bikes and residents using the Country Park to walk their dogs.”

Eye-catching sculptures, an exceptional level of landscaping to the roads around the luxury properties and generous public green spaces create an environment that is healthy and pleasant to live in.

For families that are shrinking in size, rather than growing, Environ has also recently launched The Manor at Kings Hill, a collection of two-bedroom apartments, penthouses and cottages. Views from The Manor are stunning, as they look straight down the Avenue to the Country Park. These smart, superbly built and finished homes would be the perfect solution for anyone looking to downsize.

The 2 bed cottages start from £327,500, the 2 bed apartments are £365,000 and the penthouses are £397,500.

Keepers Court and The Manor at Kings Hill is within easy commuting distance of London and is ideally placed for motorways (being just off junction 4 of the M20), airports, channel ports and high-speed rail.  There is a regular shuttle bus service to West Malling railway station, where there is a direct train service to London Victoria with an average journey time of 49 minutes. There are also commuter services that run to London Blackfriars.

The Landings Takes Off

2013 Expected to Peak As The Landings Takes Off Under New Management

Luxury resort The Landings, St Lucia re-launched under new management in April 2012 and since has made major changes to its food and beverage operation, events, financial management and trade initiatives. These changes, better service and more attention to detail have already had a huge impact on the property through a dramatic increase in business, as well as customer satisfaction evident through favourable reviews on the review website Trip Advisor.

Improvements include:

  • Better management
  • More character and style
  • Better service and much more attention to detail and the customer
  • Better maintenance of property

Recently-appointed UK & Europe Marketing Representative for The Landings St Lucia, Adam Gobat, says the new efforts implemented and better management of the property has already had a positive effect on the resort’s popularity.

“Bookings have really started to take off for next year through initiatives such as the recent 50% Flash Sale. We are now focused on building strong working relationships with our trade partners and showing them all the good things that The Landings St. Lucia has to offer such as more character and style, fantastic facilities and some of the most modern and ultra-luxurious accommodation on the island,” said Mr Gobat.

The new management team include Lyle Pauls, a veteran hotelier with 15 years experience of launching, running and turning around hotels such as the 1,100 room Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, who was appointed as General Manager earlier this year.  Xavier Masson, who has worked in Hilton and InterContinental hotels including the acclaimed Windows at Hilton Park Lane London, joined The Landings in October as the new Food & Beverage Manager.

The all-suite resort, situated on Rodney Bay, has put together an exciting programme of events for the entertainment of their staying guests and local visitors such as:  ‘Build your Own Pasta Night’ on Tuesdays, ‘Creole Experience’ lunches on Wednesdays, and ‘Recession with Rob ‘Zi’ Taylor’ on Fridays.

The intimate and refined Palms restaurant has introduced a new five course lobster taster menu, prepared by Chef Orlando that includes gastronomic delights such as cinnamon smoked lobster kebab with Piton beer barbeque sauce, with each course paired with fine wines from La Cantina. At both the Beach Club and Palms restaurants the menus and service has changed and are receiving positive feedback from guests.

Lyle Pauls says; “With these improvements, a positive change is taking shape at the resort.”

The Landings is also taking a more hands-on and practical role in supporting the local communities of Monchy and Marc through the purchase of fruit and vegetables. This will help support the livelihoods of thousands of rural families that work in the agricultural sector, whilst providing guests with a menu created from fresh, high quality local produce.

Lyle Pauls says: “The farmers have been very co-operative in accommodating the changes that had to be made to facilitate the venture.  We are looking forward to a very strong relationship with them.”

The Landings also continues to support the Grow Well charity in Gros Islet, which helps support young youths. A new initiative introduced encourages hotel guests to pack useful supplies, which can in turn be donated to the charity.

Royal Approval, Montenegro’s First Golf Course

History repeats itself as Royal Approval is Given to
Montenegro’s First Golf Course

New Name ‘Royal Montenegro Golf & Country Club’ Announced

  • New Royal Patron’s Grandmother introduced the first driving range in Montenegro in 1906
  • National Golf Association of Montenegro announces that the Tivat Golf Course will become the National Course for Montenegro, where major tournaments will be held
  • Golf training scheme for youngsters led by Sasa Ilic, a former English Premiership & international footballer.

21st August 2013:The first golf course to be developed in Montenegro announces the appointment of a Royal patron His Highness Prince Dimitri Romanoff of Russia, the Great Grandson of King Nikola I of Montenegro who ruled the country between 1852 and 1918. This choice of patron is highly significant as it was the Prince’s Grandmother, Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Militza Romanoff of Russia who introduced the first golf driving range to Montenegro, in Cetinje in 1906.

Prince Dimitri Romanoff said “As the grandson of Grand Duchess Militza, I am very happy to become Patron of the first 18-hole championship golf course in Montenegro. I have Montenegrin blood in my veins and I am pleased to do everything I can to support the country. This important sports development will make a big contribution to Montenegro’s tourist industry for the future and will specifically help encourage children in Montenegro to become active in the sport.”

The golf course, developed by Boka Group through British capital, has named the new facility ‘The Royal Montenegro Golf & Country Club’ in honour of its Royal patron. They have also announced the first Trophy Cup to be awarded for under 25 year old players, from next year, which is to be called the ‘Grand Duchess Militza Cup’, in honour of the Prince’s Grandmother.

Eighty four year old Prince Dimitri Romanoff of Russia opened the driving range and practice facilities at the Royal Montenegro Golf & Country Club in Tivat, by planting an ancient olive tree on 20th August. He said; “This was symbolic to me. I planted this tree, which is probably older than I am, as a reminder of the importance of the past and as something that will live long into the future and span the generations.

“I remember my grandmother, Militza, the daughter of King Nikola I and Queen Milena very vividly. I remember her and her sisters, my aunts, including Queen Elena of Italy and The Grand Duchess Anastasija, who were incredibly kind to me as a small boy, all of them loved sport of various kinds and taught me that through sport comes opportunity.”

The National Golf Association of Montenegro also announced that the Tivat Golf Course will simultaneously become the National Course for Montenegro, where major tournaments will be held following completion in 2016.

Boka Group, are introducing a golf training scheme for youngsters through a schools programme, led by Sasa Ilic, a Tivat resident and former English Premiership & international footballer. The programme will commence in the  autumn of 2013. Sasa Ilic represented Serbia and Montenegro at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and played professionally for Charlton Athletic, Partizan, Leeds United and West Ham. Sasa’s previous experience in an ambassadorial and coaching role for the Charlton Athletic Community Trust – a grass root football scheme focusing on working in partnership with local communities – will be of huge benefit in getting Montenegrin children involved in the sport of golf.

John Kennedy, Founder and CEO of Boka Group said, “Today sees three important developments for the sport of Golf in Montenegro and South Eastern Europe. Firstly our Royal Patron, secondly that Montenegro’s first Championship Course will become the National Course where all major tournaments are held and of course Sasa Ilic joining us as the Golf Ambassador to schools and young citizens, encouraging them without charge to become active golfers. Now that golf is an Olympic Sport, we will provide the resources to create the first players in the discipline of golf to enter the Olympics and other tournaments in the future. This is the first step in a mission to find a Montenegrin Golf champion of the future. Sasa is the perfect person to do this. His own past achievements and enthusiasm for golf and sport in general are the right way to present this exciting new facility.”
