France Ranked As Top Emmigration Country

According to the findings published in the Rightmove Overseas (September) 2013 Consumer Survey*, France ranked as the number one country to emigrate to followed by Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Portugal; whilst the long-haul destinations of USA, New Zealand, Canada and Australia trailed in seventh to tenth positions.  The survey highlighted that people are emigrating closer to home to be near to their family and friends and whilst traditional destinations such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada are still popular with buyers, the most interest is currently in European destinations.

British developer and master planner, Tony Dowse of Environ Communities says: “We have master planned La Durantie very much with expats and active retirees in mind.  We spotted there was a gap in the market for the fifty plus age group seeking a secure and hassle-free home in a rural location, which delivers on both privacy and the option to socialise with other like-minded people in a cultured community.  We have ensured that no homes are overlooked by neighbours but convivially arranged in small clusters of approximately six homes with private spaces and internal courtyards, which echo the local villages.  Access to the chateau’s Country Club also provides owners with entertainment and social events which can often be lacking in the countryside.”

Construction of Phase 1 consists of 57 vernacular designed single and two storey one to five bedroom detached homes together with two styles of apartments with either two or three bedrooms.  All properties have lush landscaped rear gardens and most have a private pool.  Renovation of the chateau is already underway and construction of the first homes on the estate is due to commence in the first quarter of 2014, with the delivery anticipated for December 2014.  Prices of primary residences (not included in the leaseback scheme) start from 387,500 Euros (approx. £325,000) for two bedrooms and rises to 910,000 Euros (approx. £763,000) for a five bedroom home.***
