Ferragamo Introduces Stylish ‘Tuscany By The Sea’ Development
Leonardo Ferragamo is attracting worldwide attention once more as he launches the resplendent Marina di Scarlino, the unparalleled offering of marina, apartments, yachts and lifestyle services and a welcomed stylish addition to the rustic Tuscan region. The marina development not only includes 39 fully furnished, contemporary apartments but also Ferragamo is bringing a new buzz to the sleepy Maremma region as his vision has created a whole new destination where the well-heeled can enjoy exclusive living on land and sea. Ideally located next to an 8,700 hectare protected nature reserve and nestled on the Tuscan coastline, owners, boat-owners and visitors can now experience the best yachting and living experience in the mediterranean.
Easily accessed from the UK, the marina is ideal for long week end breaks as well as longer stay holidays and is situated in the most beautiful bay in Tuscany, conveniently close to the airports of Pisa (1 hour), Florence (1.5 hours) and Rome (2 hours). If arriving by boat the sheltered bay with fully equipped floating piers (or fingers) makes mooring-up in the marina light work and even has WI-Fi access.
Marina di Scarlino is the vision of Leonardo Ferragamo, the son of the late Salvatore Ferragamo, world renowned shoe-maker to the stars.* Leonardo, who has a lifetime passion for sailing bought the marina in 2011 having spent many childhood summers in the Maremma region and through his Nautor Group, owns two of the top brands in yachting, Nautor’s Swan and Camper & Nicholsons Yachts . The marina is set to attract worldwide boat owners and crews; superbly positioned for day trips in the Mediterranean with 950 moorings for 6m to 36m crafts. The hi-tech outfit including the Scarlino Yacht Service guarantees top-level assistance to all visiting boats, which is supplemented by the Swan Mediterranean Customer Care centre.
Ferragamo says: “This is a unique location for people living in the north of Europe as it is close to the Tuscan archipelago with its seven islands which is fantastic for sailing and is truly one of the finest places in the Med to have a boat. The region enjoys a good climate that extends from February to October and the marina development not only has spectacular views over the sea of Elba and Montecristo but is next to a protected national park with stunning sandy bays; so what will never change, is Maremma’s intense, unspoilt natural beauty.”
The one and two bedroom apartments in three types (Prestige, Duplex and Deluxe) have been specifically designed to emphasise the stunning sea view. Grouped around the harbour and main square, the spacious accommodation offers one or two bedrooms, a dining room area with a kitchen plus large panoramic terraces. The living areas vary from 48 to 123 m2, excluding the terraces, which in some cases are almost as large as the interior living space. The fully equipped apartments can also be rented-out by Puro Suites Toscana and the marina facilities include Marina Beauty Spa by Daniela Steiner, supermarket, affordable boutiques, bars, restaurants, laundry, wine shop and full concierge service. Owners also get priority and discount at the stylish onsite beachclub “Purobeach Oasis del Mar” (www.purobeach.com), which opened in June 2013.
For those who love the land and sea, the new ‘Yachting and Living ‘ package offers a one bedroom apartment, stylish Camper & Nicholsons Yachts, Endeavour’42 cruiser and berth for just €1.25m. This represents a saving of 15% if bought together.
The Maremma coastline is relatively unknown for most Britons but has begun to grow in popularity with well-heeled Italians as a coastal escape from Florence, Milan and Rome. The actor Roger Moore already owns a villa in the region and top quality restaurants are opening too – the Marina di Scarlino now has three Michelin star restaurants within a 40 minute radius. Ferragamo is not the only big name to be moving-in; many Italian noble families have estates nearby, including the Antinoris whose premier wine estate and restaurant ‘Le Mortelle’ is just 20 minutes from the marina.
With plenty of all year round culture and entertainment at hand, Tuscany remains a favourite second home destination with British buyers. Elisa Biglia, Chesterton Office Co-Ordinator & International Consultant comments: “As we all know the British have always had a long ‘love affair’ with Tuscany and this is still very true today and we are seeing a rise once again in enquiries from British clients, and an increasing interest is being shown in coastal properties still of course focusing on Tuscany. The Maremma region of Italy which lies to the south of Siena and to the sea is fast becoming the new fashionable part of Tuscany, with its mixture of unspoilt natural beauty, culture, cuisine and history, yet also still close to the famous historic main centres of Florence, Siena and of course Rome.
“Whilst requests for second homes in the countryside of Tuscany are still modest for the classic ‘farmhouse’ demand for prime quality second homes is especially strong and nowhere is this truer than on the Tuscan coast. In the past 6 months the majority of our sales have been coastal properties.”
The 39, one and two bedroom apartments at Marina di Scarlino all have panoramic terraces with sea views. Prices with fixed and terrace furniture (not including VAT and taxes) range from €350,000 to €890,000 (approx. £295,000-£751,000) and apartments are sold on 75 year leasehold.***
