Research, published by the NHBC Foundation (National House Building Council) in April this year, reveals a key reason for the 55+ to choose a specific retirement development is the availability and quality of communal facilities. The findings reflect the high standards of today’s modern retiree and mirror previous research by Knight Frank from Q4 2014, in which 69% of survey interviewees rated having a choice of lifestyle facilities nearby as highly important.

Responding to the demand for high-quality lifestyle facilities is forward-thinking retirement village Wadswick Green in Wiltshire which, this month, celebrates the opening of its state-of-the-art spa. Completing the village’s extensive leisure facilities, the new spa, which also features a 15-metre infinity pool with pool-side, sunken Jacuzzis and gym is part of a £1million investment and adds to the already existing sauna, steam room, hair salon and on-site restaurant.

Peter Ford, Chairman, Rangeford Holdings (Developer of Wadswick Green) comments: “The ‘baby-boomers’ generation is growing fast, with Euromonitor forecasting their spending power to reach $15 trillion by 2020. This group (currently aged between 50 and 68 years) is widely associated with privilege and were the wealthiest, most active, and most physically fit generation up to that time. With a liking for increased consumerism, the majority are not willing to compromise and looking to improve their lifestyle to suit their life stage at 55+. We have anticipated this demand by providing modern luxuriously designed homes with elevated services and facilities.”

Featuring products by Espa, renowned for its mature skin care collection, the new spa offers a wide choice of holistic treatments such as personalised facials, back scrubs and massages. Those wanting to indulge without compromise, can choose from a number of attractive spa packages. Situated in the ‘Pavilion’, the spa also gives easy access to Wadswick Green’s restaurant The Greenhouse, which is a popular choice for residents and locals of all age groups alike.

Once completed, Wadswick Green will comprise of 248, one, two or three bedroom apartments, set over 25 acres which provides owners with the luxury and therapeutic nature of open space.  Most recently, the development launched its 22 spacious one and two-bed ‘Pavilion Apartments’ conveniently located in the central building which means the spa is a mere lift-ride away.

The bright and spacious Pavilion Apartments feature hot-water, energy-efficient underfloor heating throughout as well as broadband, Wi-Fi, telephone and satellite outlets. A communal, high-spec lift adds to the comfort.

From the front door it is possible to see out of both windows to the countryside and woods.  The homes are ultra-modern with their own front door as well as high-efficiency double-glazed windows, providing a bright and friendly feel. Thorough insulation caters for peace and quiet and supports the energy efficient heating.

The luxurious double bedrooms have ample space for storage facilities and buyers can choose from a variety of quality carpets to match their style. Enhancing the spacious feel are the large living rooms with its 8’4” ceiling to floor height picture windows with direct access to a Juliet or walk-on balcony.

The Pavilion provides tailored daily in-home care services on the doorstep (provided by Rangeford Care).  These facilities have been carefully considered but are invisible to the eye, such as fashionable wet rooms rather than baths with hoists, wide doorways and shallow cupboards.  With access to 24 hour care, Pavilion This apartment is the perfect option for those who don’t know what their requirements will be in later life but find comfort in knowing that all is available if need arises.  Prices start at £265,000.
