P1 Communications hired to put ‘The Tarn’ on the map as a tourist destination

Le Tarn Tourisme, the official tourist board for The Tarn, south-west France, has appointed P1 Communications, to manage its media relations and PR campaigns for the UK and Irish market.

P1 Communications, a London-based travel PR specialist, will focus on raising the profile of the undiscovered, south-west corner of the Midi-Pyrenees to both consumers and travel partners. P1’s campaign will focus on brand collaborations, strategic partnerships, media relations, promotions, competitions and implementing a solid social media strategy.

Paul Salvador, Director of Le Tarn Tourisme commented:

“First and foremost, the aim is to raise the profile of the region and increase visitor numbers. It is unbelievable that this rural region is unknown by most Brits, this is a great opportunity to get ‘The Tarn’ firmly on the tourist map.

We are confident that P1 Communications will deliver and we look forward to a long working relationship.”

With the new daily winter flight route from London Stanstead to Toulouse with Ryanair due to begin on 1 November 2016, the region is already becoming more accessible to the UK traveller. P1 Communications hope to capitalise on this and put the area on the map as a tourist destination.

The Tarn is most famous for being the birthplace of Henry de Toulouse Lautrec, born in the city of Albi in 1864. Steeped in culture and history, the region is home to the episcopal city of Albi (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the historical bastide towns of Puycelsi (listed among the most beautiful French villages), Cordes–sur-Ciel and Castelnau-de-Montmiral.

Gaillac is one of France’s premiere wine regions, with the first wine plantation dating back to the Roman times. Stay amongst the vineyards at one of the many rural wine chateaus in the area or spend the day sampling the local food and wine at one of the many food markets.
