Prime Aspect For Popular Super-Sized Kitchens In The Country

While a century ago the kitchen was purely a functional area for most households, it is now the most valuable room in the house.  A third (31%) of the 2,000 UK homeowners polled in March 2013 spent the most time at home in the kitchen and over half (58%) now entertain friends there instead of the living room. The culling of the empty formal dining room in favour of a more sociable studio-style kitchen/living space has become standard and is also gaining prime position within households – as seen with the introduction of the new ‘super-sized’ kitchens with optimal views over Summer Lake at Watermark, The Cotswolds.

To create the new format home Watermark has appointed the expert help of Cheltenham based kitchen and interior designers, L’una Design (www.lunadesign.co.uk).  Michele Pemberton, Director of L’una Design says: “A new approach was needed to the layout of the interior space and careful consideration to the use of each zone and it’s interaction to the other was vital.  The kitchen, while the main focus of the open plan space, needed to blend with the living areas and so configuration and material selection was very important. To be able to work in such a natural setting with the vision of the lakes literally on the doorstep is a dream and being able to bring the outdoor beauty into the kitchens is simply a bonus.”

L’una Design offers a unique service whereby Watermark owners have the option to design their kitchen spaces making them completely bespoke to suit their needs, whether contemporary, vintage or transitional in style.  L’una Design has exclusively selected Italian kitchen brand Pedini and the ‘Magika’ collection available in combinations of warm Thermo-structure woods and satin, glossy or micro.  A neutral palette of materials and tones blends seamlessly and draws colour from the natural surroundings.  The ‘Boomerang’ kitchen-island from Pedini’s ‘Dune’ collection is a key optional feature; named after its bendy shape, the curved form perfectly re-iterates the movement of the water outside.
