Sponsored by Rolls-Royce and Yamaha, the ceremony took place at the JW Marriott Los Angeles on Friday, 19th September, in the presence of Lord Best from the House of Lords in British Parliament.

The winning entrants were presented with either a ‘Highly Commended’ or ‘5-Star’ award, whereby Royal Westmoreland achieved the following:

  • Best Golf Development – Royal Westmoreland – 5* award for Barbados + Regional winner for Caribbean
  • Best Property Single Unit – Idyll Moments – 5* award for Barbados + Regional winner for Caribbean

All regional 5-Star award winners will continue to compete against other regional winners in the eagerly anticipated International Property Awards Summit, which will take place on the 3rd and 4th December at the MadinatJumeirah Hotel in Dubai, determining the ‘World’s Best’ in each of the overall 47 categories.

Stuart Shield, President of the International Property Awards, said, “Each region of the world is highly competitive and the Americas is no exception. We are constantly delighted by the levels of excellence shown by the property industry and now look forward to the overall results in December.”

Entrepreneur and British owner of Royal Westmoreland, John Morphet adds: “We celebrated our 20th anniversary this yearso we are pleased that the improvements we have made to the estate, the golf course and its facilities over the years have paid off. It’s wonderful to be recognised in so many categories.”

Royal Westmoreland is set across 750 acres of lush, tropical landscape overlooking the west coast of Barbados. The low density gated community of luxurious villas, apartments and penthouses are situated around a championship golf course designed by renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. A beach club, Elemis Spa, tennis garden courts, gymnasium, multiple pools and Clubhouse complete the facilities at the five star estate.

The Royal Apartments, which received a ‘5-Star’ award, are a collection of 36 luxury residences designed in a colonial architectural style. Ranging in size from 830 sqft for a one bedroom apartment to 2000 sqft for a three-bedroom apartment, the open plan homes feature large balconies from which to enjoy alfresco dining and sunset views. Natural stone floors, coral rendering, Italian cabinetry, granite work tops, stainless steel SMEG appliances and air conditioning throughout complete the high quality finishes. Prices currently start at US$395,000 for a one bedroom apartment and rise to US$995,000 for a three-bedroom apartment.

Idyll Moments is an example villa of a new contemporary style which has been introduced as an alternative to the estate’s more colonial style of building that is typical of the region. The villa has clean lines, slick interiors, large terraces and enormous expanses of glass to maximise the views. A villa, similar to the nominated one, can be built on numerous fairway lots on the estate such as Jasmine Ridge with lotprices varying according to the location from $1 million.
