Designed by US architect David Randall Hertz, the property has been widely acclaimed due to its sustainable use of recycled materials as dozens of redundant planes sit in the deserts of California. Nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains with panoramic views, the house features an art studio using the upper fuselage as a roof, a guest house which incorporates the first class cabin deck and a meditation pavilion which is made from the entire front of the plane, plus the cockpit windows form a skylight.

After he abdicated from the throne to marry American Socialite Wallis Simpson, the King and his wife lived here during his first year as the governor of the Bahamas. Also made famous in the 1965 James Bond classic Thunderball, the daughter of the architect (aviation pioneer and movie producer Mr Sigrist) who lived at the estate was in a relationship with the Bond films’ producer Albert Broccoli which is how it came to be featured in the film. The 12 bedroom, 10 bathroom property features an opulent main house plus two guest houses and four acres of tropical gardens with two gardeners included.

A completely exclusive 20,000 acre private reserve in the Waterberg Mountains owned by a British entrepreneur, guests stay in the remarkable glass Observatory, perfect for stargazing. Guests can use all of the home’s toys including thermal imaging for night-time game viewing, quad bikes and game drive vehicles to spot giraffe, zebra and buffalo. Also included is use of the reserve’s own helicopter which can pick you up from the airport and take you on an aerial safari.

An 18th century chateau set in the heart of the Loire Valley which has been in the Vezin family for 900 years. This historic home features plenty of reminders of a bygone era including period furniture, antique heirlooms and each room retains its authentic charm. The chateau features six bedrooms, seven reception rooms for entertaining including a music lounge, a vaulted cellar, a hunting museum and a large manicured French garden.

Set in the Rhodope Mountains in a small hamlet called Gela (birthplace of famous musician Orpheus), Villa Gella is surrounded by pristine lakes, nature reserves, canyons, four UNESCO heritage sites, and close to Bulgaria’s second largest ski resort Pamporovo. The restored six-bedroom villa commands impressive views across the mountains, sitting at an altitude of 1,700m. The house offers a spa floor with indoor swimming pool, massage area, steam room, gym and yoga corner for when guests want to relax after a day hiking or skiing. It was once labelled ‘the finest home east of the Berlin Wall’.
