Situated in the unspoilt south of Mauritius, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort has introduced a unique wedding package at their newly restored 19th century château Heritage Le Château. The package offers couples wanting more than a ‘sun and sea’ wedding, an extraordinary venue that incorporates history and authenticity, surrounded by the natural beauty of a 2,500-hectare private nature reserve.

The objective behind the renovation of the château was to preserve the heritage of the estate. Now, with an elegant and refined interior that takes inspiration from the British colonial era, the result is a venue that exudes charm and grandeur with tropical finesse, setting the scene for the ultimate fairy-tale wedding.

Tale as Old as Time

In the ‘Colonial/Garden Wedding Package’, up to 80 guests can be seated under the mansion’s sweeping veranda that overlooks the luxuriant nature beyond, or in the living room; a snapshot through time decorated with an eclectic array of elegant furnishings, rich wooden panels and elegant venetian chandeliers.

To make the most of balmy temperatures and the graceful surrounds, the fairy-tale package also gives couples the option to wed outdoors, with a selection of picturesque locations situated around the mansion. For example, pre-wedding drinks and canapés can be held in the immaculate gardens landscaped in a classic French style, or under a floodlit 100-year-old-tree that overlooks the château. For the wedding breakfast, guests can indulge in a dinner located on a deck that overlooks the onsite championship golf course.

The Heritage Le Château’s restaurant prides itself on offering refined dishes that aim to capture the essence of the mansion’s colonial past, applying Michelin-starred inspired techniques and utilising fresh local produce. With dishes on offer such as wild boar with coffee sauce and sweet potato gnocchi to venison with a chocolate sauce, cauliflower, coconut and vanilla, couples will have the opportunity to design a Mauritian-inspired menu that reflects their special occasion.

Following the festivities, the newlyweds will be able to reflect on their unforgettable day in the château’s exclusive Presidential Suite that features a four-poster canopy bed, long ivory draped curtains, paintings that revive scenes from yesteryear and antiques that add to the romantic old-world charm.

Pricing for the ‘Colonial/Garden Wedding Package’ starts from: £1,550*

An Unforgettable Wedding Day in the Tropics

For couples that seek an intimate ceremony, the resort’s beach location is idyllic. An experience that offers seclusion and serenity, the ceremony here would take place on the waterfront, with picture-perfect views of the dazzling Indian Ocean as a backdrop. Following this private celebration, newlyweds can enjoy a romantic meal under the stars with dedicated staff that attend to every need.

The resort’s stylish pan-Asian inspired restaurant Gin’ja makes for a trendy wedding ceremony or a sit-down wedding breakfast venue. The dark wooden interior here is a sheer contrast to the deep cerulean lagoon views that can be admired from every table and transforms into a contemporary setting for the evening’s entertainment.

As well as a private romantic candlelit dinner on the beach, the package also includes a 90-minute couples’ massage in the Seven Colours Pavilion gazebo, a boat trip with tropical cocktails and canapés served on board, seats at the Chef’s Table Heritage Le Telfair’s restaurant Annabella’s, butler service and much more.

Pricing for the ‘Tropical Wedding Package’ starts from: £1,135*

A Bespoke Service

Heritage Resorts has a dedicated expert team on hand to ensure that every bride and groom-to-be’s dream wedding in Mauritius is realised. Each wedding is tailormade to suit couples’ individual style, size and budget.

Heritage Le Telfair’s most recent success was an extraordinary Indian Wedding. For this special occasion, the hotel was used exclusively by the wedding party of500 guests. With the main event taking place at the Heritage Le Château, guests assembled in a full-sized glass marquee for the ceremony with views out to the nature reserve on one side, and the charming château to the other. The ceiling was a showpiece itself, made of deep orange tropical flowers, blooming gypsophila and individually hanging glass bulbs full of auburn petals.

An additional glass marquee was also installed as the dining and evening entertainment space. Guests looking up could admire the glass ceiling complete with rose gold and tassled chandeliers, cascading floral decorations and the stars after sundown. Complete with cream and gold furnishing for dining, the marquee also featured a DJ booth, dancefloor and impressive floral archways. Incorporating all elements of the château experience, the veranda and balconies of the main mansion made for idyllic spots to enjoy a quiet drink, and the entire landscaped gardens were illuminated with gentle gold lighting to set the evening scene.

From organising a week of festivity, to a pre-wedding party, the big day itself and more, couples can enjoy planning their dream Mauritian wedding, their way.
