Week-Long Holidays in Mauritius for Under £1,000 Thanks to New Flight Routes

Dream Holiday Destination Becomes More Affordable With New Eurowings Flights

Mauritius has long been a popular holiday destination due to its reliable weather, beautiful beaches and seemingly endless list of activities to try on land and water. However, holidays to the Indian Ocean Island can be pricey, and many find this prevents them from travelling there. The good news is that travel to Mauritius is about to become more affordable.

On May 5th German budget airline Eurowings (part of the Lufthansa group) will be launching new flights from Cologne to Mauritius. This will open up more affordable routes through Europe to those in the UK who might have otherwise found travel to Mauritius prohibitively expensive. Return Eurowings flights from London to Mauritius via Cologne are available from £479 in June. Equivalent flights with Emirates and British Airways cost upwards of £700, meaning there are savings of over £250 per person to be made.

Those looking for a budget holiday to Mauritius will also find plenty of good-value accommodation options to combine with new low-cost flight routes. The Veranda Resorts hotel group has four hotels in the North of the Island, all of which combine great value with their own individual charm. Rooms at the hotels cost from £70 per night, meaning a week’s holiday with Eurowings flights can cost as little as £969 per person (based on two sharing; B&B).

The hotels all offer a chance to experience Mauritius’ charm, with an activity programme called ‘Deep Into Mauritius’, which includes traditional cooking lessons, rum making, sega dancing experiences, and tours of local villages and markets. The hotels also offer a variety of ways to enjoy the country’s famously beautiful waters, whether by exploring the shallows on the free kayaks and pedal boats, or going further afield on the resorts’ own private Catamaran.
